The Hatching

Suna: “Sigh…..when Boss is going to get back….I am so BORED! Pffft…….I wish I had someone to pick a fight with, but they’re all gone on missions. And here I am stuck watching this stupid rock. Come on and hatch!!! Maybe then I would have something to do…Hey! I have an idea!”

Suna walked over to the egg and poke it, causing it to rock a bit. She pushed it harder, sending it onto its side. “Hatch, damn it!” Suna then proceeded to bite the egg. Small cracks appeared on the shell, but nothing else seemed to happen.

Well, that was until the egg suddenly split in two. Suna was sent flying by sudden hatching, landing on her back. She rolled over back on to her feet and turned to look at where the egg was. There was a mess of shell lying around and lying in the middle was a small black Poochyena, its tail covering its belly.

Suna: “Hey! Mutt! Look at the mess ya made! Boss is going to be angry when he gets back.”

The Poochyena looked at Suna and tilted its head a bit before letting out a soft whine. It then rolled over onto its belly and tried to stand. It fell flat on its face several times before finally being able to stand. At which point, it proceeded to run towards Suna tripping and crashing into her during the process.

Suna: “Ack! Watch what you doing!? Or do want to fight, cause I’d accept that challenge!”

The Poochyena looked up at her and whined.

Suna: “What?”
Poochyena: “whimper...”

Suna shook the Poochyena off of her and started to walk away, but not before the Poochyena bit her behind.

Suna: “Ouch! Let go!”
Poochyena: “whimper”

Suna awkwardly ran into the other side of the cave trying shake off the Poochyena the whole time. She ran past a pile of fish that she had recently caught for dinner and then the Poochyena finally let go only to lunge right at the fish. She gobbled one down right after the other.

Suna: “Hey! That’s my dinner!”

Suna quickly bit onto to the tail of a fish before it went down the Poochyena’s gullet. They both pulled on it until finally it tore in half. The Poochyena quickly swallowed its half and then walked over to Suna and sniffed her half. Suna dropped it and the Poochyena instantly snapped it up.

Suna: “You really were hungry, weren’t ya? I can’t even eat that much!”
Poochyena: *yawn*

The Poochyena snuggled up close to Suna and closed her eyes. She was instantly fast asleep.

Suna: “sigh”

Suna carefully picked up the Poochyena in her mouth and half carried, half dragged it over to the fire. She then set it next the fire and laid down next to it herself. Its fur was very soft and comfy.

Suna: “You know what mutt; I think I’ll call you Mäherin. It means reaper and you certainly know how to reap yourself some fish!!! Hehe. Good night, my little reaper.”


Ok before any screams child abuse or whatever the egg was about to hatch anyways and the cracking from when Suna bit it was just a coincidence. Suna just happens to have perfect timing when it comes to her antics haha! And speaking of Suna, you get to see another side of her here. Yes she was annoyed at first by the new hatchling, but she soon warmed up to it. Which can be seen at the end when she gives Mäherin her fish and carries her over to the fire where it's warm. I can't wait to draw more of these two together. and Tau's reaction when he gets back.....i don't even.....well he'll be shocked that's for sure!
